About

My name is Sarah Harper and welcome to "When Home is Nowhere." I'm a Midwestern girl just trying to establish roots wherever I am. Thus, why home is no where, or now here. Everything in life is a matter of perspective.

I grew up and lived in Omaha, Nebraska my entire life. Looking for a change, I decided to enroll at Iowa State University for college. This single decision, which at the time was seemingly simple, set in motion a chain of events I would have never foresaw.

I met my husband, Mark, the summer after my freshman year. We were introduced by a mutual friend because we were both from Omaha.

In 2008, I graduated and Mark commissioned into the United States Air Force. By October, we received our first assignment: Anchorage, Alaska.

During our time in Anchorage, I worked for Ohana Media Group as the Promotions Director and as the morning co-host for the KFAT Morning Chaos on 92.9 KFAT.

It was one of the best moves I ever made, in retrospect. My co-workers morphed into friends that eventually became family. Saying goodbye was one of the hardest things I ever did.

Currently, "home" is Misawa-shi, Aomori, Japan. So please, wander around, and see what happens when home is nowhere. If something speaks to you, please leave a comment.
